Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Safety Switch (RCD) and do I need one?

Safety switches are designed to save lives and have methods of detecting loss of current in a circuit which may indicate a person is receiving an electric shock. These switches can cut the power in approximately 30 milliseconds.

These switches have been compulsory in power outlet circuits in homes constructed since the early 90’s and also for all light and power circuits in homes constructed since 2000. Though many older homes do not have safety switches, it is highly recommended that you have these installed for your protection.

What is LED lighting and does it save energy?

LED light bulbs are an energy-efficient alternative to Fluorescent, CFL, Metal Halide, High-pressure Sodium and Halogen lighting. By installing LED lighting, you could reduce your energy consumption by approximately 50-80%.  These lights are dependable and can last up to 100,000 hours!

What are the benefits of installing LED?

Other than immediately reducing your energy consumption and therefore saving on your energy bill, there are many other benefits to installing LED lighting!

  • LED lights produce less heat than other light bulbs as they are extremely efficient at turning electricity into light.
  • They’re long-lasting! You can expect your LED lights to last from 50,000 to 100,000 hours.
  • LED lights are super durable and are basically indestructible.
  • You won’t be left with hazardous materials such as mercury and therefore, they’re often recyclable!
